2023년 8월부터 모인 다섯 명의 작가들은 매주 그림을 그리며 각자의 이미지를 탐구해왔다. 종이 위 하나의 선에서 시작된 작업은 2년 동안 책과 영상, 설치물 등 다양한 매체로 확장되었다. 그러나 그 출발점에는 언제나 ‘머라도 그린다’는 단순한 행위와 '머그'라는 실천적 장이 자리한다. 이번 전시는 지난 2년간 축적된 ‘머그’의 활동을 아카이브하고, 파생된 결과물을 소개한다. 이로써 그림이라는 원천적 활동과 그 실천 방식을 보여주며, 관람자가 일상의 그림그리기를 통해 삶과 예술을 연결하는 새로운 방식을 발견하기를 기대한다.
Mugg: Just Draw Anything! is the first exhibition of the drawing collective Mugg and presents our initial approach to drawing. Since the earliest human drawings, other media inevitably followed, yet among all images, drawing remains the most vital. The motto “Just Draw Anything” emphasizes a steady and persistent practice of this fundamental act.
Since August 2023, five artists have gathered weekly to draw and explore their own visual languages. What began as simple lines on paper has, over two years, expanded into books, videos, and installations. Yet at the heart lies the act of drawing itself and the shared practice of Mugg. This exhibition archives two years of activity and presents the works that have emerged, inviting visitors to see how regular drawing can connect art and everyday life.
