팩션은 7월 4일부터 12일까지 2026 인터내셔널 프로젝트 공모 선정 작가 차토리 시미즈(Chatori Shimizu)의 《하이퍼 삼계탕》을 발표한다. 선정 작가 차토리 시미즈는 일본 출신의 작곡가, 사운드 아티스트, 쇼(笙, shō) 연주자로, 장소 특정적 음악, 키네틱 강화 음악, 공연 음악을 기반으로 활동해 왔다. 작가는 문화와 장르의 경계를 넘나들며 도쿄, 뉴욕, 드레스덴, 타이페이를 거쳐 현재 홋카이도에 기반을 두고 있으며, 올해 4월부터 7월까지는 아르코 레지던시에 입주해 서울에서 활동 중이다.
4일간 발표되는 프로젝트는 크게 신작 〈하이퍼 삼계탕〉(2026) 공연과 즉흥 연주, 〈에비 레볼루션〉(2022) 공연을 포함하는 ‘라이브 퍼포먼스’ 와 기존 작품의 기록 영상을 열람할 수 있는 ‘비디오 아카이브’ 세션으로 구성된다. 장소
특정적 퍼포먼스 작품 〈하이퍼 삼계탕〉 라이브 퍼포먼스에 시미즈는 작곡가이자 일본 전통 악기 쇼 연주자로 참여하고, 한국의 생황, 피리 연주자 한지수가 함께 무대에 오른다. 본 작품 공연에 이어 작가가 직접 자신의 작업 소개와 프로젝트의 기획 배경을 관객과 나누는 짧은 토크를 진행하고, 다음 순서로 시미즈와 한지수의 ‘즉흥 연주’를 선보인다. 신작과 함께 발표하는 키네틱 강화 음악 〈에비 레볼루션〉은 바이올린과 첼로 연주자에게 부가 기능을 더해 일반적인 악기 주법 외에도 추가적인 미션을 수행하는 독창적인 연주를 선보인다. 2022년 오스트리아 잘츠부르크에서 초연을 올린 작품은 이번 프로젝트를 통해 한국에서 처음 공개하며, 한국의 바이올린 연주자 김유리와 첼로 연주자 지박(Ji Park)이 함께한다.
4일간 라이브 퍼포먼스가 종료된 후, 현장에서 진행되는 비디오 아카이브 세션에는 팩션에서 발표하는 〈하이퍼 삼계탕〉과 〈에비 레볼루션〉의 영상과 함께 ‘장소 특정적 퍼포먼스’와 ‘키네틱 강화 음악’ 두 장르를 대표하는 기존 작품 영상 3편을 추가한 총 5편의 영상 아카이브를 상영한다.
Faction is pleased to announce Hyper Samgyetang by Chatori Shimizu, selected project for the 2026 International Project Open Cal, running in July 4–12. Chatori Shimizu is a Japanese
composer, sound artist, and shō (笙) performer whose practice is grounded in site-specific music, kinetically enhanced music, and concert music. Working across cultural and disciplinary boundaries, Shimizu has lived in Tokyo, New York, Dresden, and Taipei, and is currently based in Hokkaido. From April through July of this year, he is in residence at the Arko Artist Residency in Seoul.
Presented over four days, the project is structured around two components: “Live Performance,” comprising the new work Hyper Samgyetang (2026) with improvisation and Ebi Revolution (2022); and a “Video Archive” session featuring documentary footage of existing works. In the live performance of the site-specific work Hyper Samgyetang, Shimizu takes the stage as both composer and shō performer, joined by Korean saenghwang and piri performer Jisu Han. Following the performance, Shimizu wil give a short talk sharing an introduction to his practice and the background of the project, after which Shimizu and Han wil present an improvisation.
Also presented alongside the new work, Ebi Revolution — a kinetically enhanced music piece — features violinist and cellist performing with added enhancements that extend their playing beyond conventional instrumental technique. World-premiered in Salzburg, Austria in 2022, the work makes its Korea debut
through this project, performed by Korean violinist Yuri Kim and cellist Ji Park.
Following each of the four days of live performance, the video archive wil be available for viewing on-site. Together with the video of Hyper Samgyetang and Ebi Revolution presented at Faction, three additional videos of existing works representing the two genres — “site-specific performance” and “kinetically enhanced music” — will be screened, for a total of five works in the video archive.
