인간 사회는 본래 절대선과 절대악이라는 이분법적 대립으로 온전히 포섭되지 않는다. 그러나 지금의 사회는 어떠한가? 저마다의 신념은 수직적으로 위계를 이루고, 이념은 자신이 선 자리를 정당화하는 구조물로 기능한다. 진실은 함께 도달해야 할 지점이 아니라 독점해야 할 정상으로 치환된다. 진실이 각자의 위치를 증명하는 수단이 되는 순간, 타인의 말은 더 이상 대화의 대상이 아니라 자신의 위치를 위협하는 것으로 간주된다. 그렇게 사람들은 물리적 충돌 없이도 서로를 적으로 상정한다. 전시는 씁쓸한 유머와 황량한 디스토피아적 풍경을 통해 동시대의 고립과 분열이 무엇으로부터 기인하고 어떠한 구조 속에서 재생산되는지를 조명한다.
Human society cannot be fully understood through a binary opposition between absolute good and absolute evil. But what of society today? Individual beliefs increasingly form vertical hierarchies, while ideologies function as structures that justify the positions we occupy. Truth is no longer a point to be reached together, but a summit to be claimed as one’s own. Once truth becomes a means of self-validation, the words of others are no longer received as part of a dialogue, but perceived as a threat. In this way, people come to regard one another as enemies without any physical confrontation. Through bitter humor and bleak, dystopian landscapes, the exhibition examines the forces and structures that give rise to and perpetuate contemporary isolation and division.
